Private Lessons
Private Lessons are available 7 days a week. Oilers Ice Center staffs highly qualified figure skating and hockey instructors. Rates for private instruction range from $20.00-$30.00 per half hour. For more information call Kimberly Berry-Borgos @ 252-0011.
 
Learn to Play Hockey

Class Days and Times

Monday classes run April 17-May 22. Saturday classes run April 22-June 3 (no class May 20). There are no make up classes, and after the first week, no refunds.

Beginner Hockey
Monday classes: 5:45-6:20 pm
Saturday classes: 9:00-9:35am

Intermediate Hockey
Monday classes: 5:45-6:20 pm
Saturday classes: 9:40-10:15am

Beginning Hockey is open to ages 3 and up. This class teaches the beginning fundamentals of skating for the game of hockey as well as basic stick and puck handling skills.
Please Note: Beginner Hockey requires full hockey gear,helmet and stick.

Intermediate Hockey introduces advanced skating skills for the game of hockey as well as intermediate level stick and puck handling, shooting, and basic game drills. Skaters must pass Beginning Hockey to participate in this class.
Please Note: Intermediate Hockey requires a helment and stick.

Hockey Class Curriculum for both Beginning and Intermediate Hockey consists of a 20-minute section for skating skills and a 15-minute section for stick and puck handling.

Please Note: Skaters entering the hockey program must first pass either Snowplow Sam 1-3 (ages 3-6) or Basic Eights 1-2 (ages 7+). This is a mandatory pre-requisite.

Family Discount: register more than one family member and receive 10% off each additional registration.

Policies

  • Prorated refunds will be given prior to the second class.
  • We reserve the right to combine or cancel classes if enrollment is low.
  • Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. Skaters misbehaving will be asked to leave.
  • Skaters will not be allowed to participate unless they have the proper equipment and a signed waiver and release.
  • Parents are prohibited from "coaching" skaters during class.

Learn To Skate

Snowplow Sam is for skaters ages 3 to 6. Snowplow Sam consists of 3 levels and was created specifically for younger skaters. Classes are kept small (5:1 student/teacher ratio) to accomodate effective learning.

Basic Eights is for skaters 7 and up. Basic Eights consists of 8 levels and is designed for the older skater. New skaters will begin in Basic 1 and progress through 8 levels. The student/tacher ratio is no more than 12:1 for Basic Eight classes.
